consumer phone accelerometers cannot detect variations in gravitational field strength caused by geology or subsurface mass distribution. those variations are measured in microgals — millionths of a m/s² — far below the noise floor of this sensor. what this tool shows is the direction of gravity with high angular precision, not the strength of gravity with scientific precision.
